Artist statement
I am an interdisciplinary artist. I use a range of media such as photography, sculpture, painting, projection, moving image, VR, animation.
The overarching principle of my works is liminality of space, evident in the constant shifts between 2D/3D, traditional/digital, metamorphosis and perception.
My practice operates somewhere in the region of Extended painting, Minimalism, Conceptual art and Expressionism. It is heavily influenced by Modernism, Queer theory, Architecture, Design and Psychology.
Composition plays the most crucial role in my practice as it allows me to play with materials, processes, meanings, connotations, ontology, theory, perception and immersivity of a space.
I have recently adopted a motto for my practice “keep playing”, which best describes everything I do in my practice. It is through playfulness that my practice comes alive and manages to address multitude of themes: my other identity; my curiosity and hunger for knowledge and understanding; my socialist and universalist political views and ideology; my love for art; love for sci-fi genre and futuristic architecture; my struggles with past and a constant search for balance and integrity in every part of my life.
